About Me

My name is Tim Dwyer, and I'm not the most diligent, I'm not the most thought provoking and I'm not the funniest guy you'll ever meet. But in my spare time I try and find a few sites here and there that I can recommend as sites that provide a better perspective on health.

I don't really do guest posts, but I will on occasion link to sites I like and think provide you with some benefits. Right now I really like the layout of the review site WhereToBuyHCGDrops.net (sort of a goofy name,) and OneStopTreatment.com. They do in depth reviews on the lesser known health supplements out there.

I did buy this site from a friend so you will see some older articles with links in them, some I left, some I didn't just depending on how much I liked the site.

Remedies for Heartburn Around the Home

Heartburn is caused by an overproduction of acid in the lining of the stomach resulting from eating too much food or too rich food. Foods that our body finds hard to digest by itself such as a 4th of July barbecue or an all you can eat buffet, requires additional help and the pumping in of additional acid resulting in the burning feeling in the lower throat. While simple medicine can quickly and easily erase this nasty feeling, there are plenty of ways to reduce stomach acidity without leaving your home. Heartburn remedies all work to neutralize the acid in the stomach and return it to normal pH levels.

The most popular medicine to reduce acid is high base solution, which reduces the level of pH with it’s own low content. Pepto Bismol is the most common, advertised to relieve all forms of indigestion by providing the anti acidic formula required. Medicines like Tums are also very basic and low; the chalk like taste is a result of the minimal acidity. These medicines cost only five to ten dollars and are available at any supermarket or retail store.

If you can not get out of the house, there are plenty of free remedies to reduce the acidity. Finding a heavy base material to eat or drink goes a long way; milk is one of the lowest acid drinks around, and one glass may be enough to eliminate nasty acid reflex. Many vegetables and fruits and likewise low in acid; bananas and spinach are not only nutritious but can balance the pH levels in your stomach. If the pain is very severe, a small quantity of baking soda will instantly level the acidity in the stomach — baking soda is a strong base, so be careful not to take too much of it or you will have to balance it with more acid!
