Five Tips When Moving Into a New Home

Make a list

It can seem overwhelming when you first move into your new home.  Surrounded by a pile of boxes in a bare room can be a bit disheartening, and it is not just the unpacking that you need to do.  To make it a bit less stressful sit down and make a list of everything that needs to be done and systematically work your way through it.  Rather than being overwhelmed take it one step at a time.  As well as unpacking you will need to organise for the utilities to be connected as well as changing your address on your drivers license, with your bank and other companies where you are either a member or hold an account.

Unpacking

If you have hired removalists they should have put the right boxes of items in the correct rooms.  If you are going to move yourself you will make it easier on yourself if you label all your boxes.  When you carry the boxes in take them straight to the right room, preferably after you have moved any furniture in or put down any rugs.  Take your time unpacking and do one room at a time.  Think about where you are going to put everything first to save moving it multiple times.

Arrange your furniture

It is unlikely that your furniture will be laid out the same way in your new home as it was in your old place.  When moving your furniture in take care not to hurt your back if you are doing the heavy lifting.  To make it easier on yourself you should hire a professional removalist.  Once your furniture is in place remember that it is not a permanent arrangement.  Live with it for a while and see if it works for you in that configuration.  You may find that the flow of traffic through the house would work better if the furniture was moved or you might need to get rid of some items.  You may even find that you need to buy additional pieces.
