One of the best ways to get a jump start on your weight loss goals is by using HCG drops to lose a quick 20 to 30 pounds. This can help keep you motivated and get you some early wins to keep you focused. There are a lot of nay sayers out there who believe it is just the 500 calorie diet that loses all the weight for you, this simply isn’t true. There are however 5 things you can do to keep yourself in the game and losing weight.

1) – Of all the HCG drops out there GO AND BUY Easy HCG.

As a brand it is by far the best, they offer the most comprehensive support system and daily calorie intake. Most brands only allow a 500 calorie intake, Easy HCG allows a full 1,200. Keeping you more satisfied and on the diet.

2) – Plan your meals ahead of time.

This should be a no brainer, but if you are careful and plan what you are going to eat through the day you will inevitably have more success. This way you don’t get into the bind of what to eat and make a poor choice. In fact I would recommend you plan out a whole week at a time.

3) – Drink lots of water.

They say this in the diet but people seem to forget or lose steam. Drinking the right amount of water, or more, will help you feel full. It will also help you stay regular and hydrated. This will help lighten your mood and keep you more energized than you normally would feel.

4) – Diet with a buddy.

The studies go on and on about the increased level of success you will have if you diet with a buddy. Keeping yourself accountable and motivated throughout the entire diet is easier if you have someone to commensurate with.

5) – Do NOT weight yourself every day.

They recommend you take your weight and write it down each day. I don’t recommend that because there will be days you don’t lose much at all and so you will lose some steam or feel like it is not working making it more likely you will cheat. Instead I would rather be keeping a 6 day average of weight loss that way you help to even out the lows and the highs and you stay on track.

Often when we think of a great summer holiday, we think of sun, sand and surf. With some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, accompanied by seaside towns and cities that cover the entertainment needs of the whole family, why consider elsewhere?

Because in Australia we have the luxury of a lot of space — so we should use it! When considering your holiday this Christmas, think about hitting the water, and donning the water skis — away from the beach!

Along with great beaches, Australia also has amazing inland waterways that not only link into unique townships and regional centres, but offer even more water fun than the beach. If you’re looking at ways to hit the water this summer holidays without heading to crowded beaches, why not consider these:

1. Houseboat
Australia’s largest waterways, such as The Murray River, offer great opportunities to get the entire family onto the water — in hired houseboats. With all the modern conveniences, your own swimming hole right outside your bedroom window and the perfect fishing spot off your veranda, this is an experience your family won’t forget.

2. Getting extreme
Whether you have a boat license or not, you can jump in a speed boat for the day — or the week, and get the family into water sports. Boats can be hired, as can drivers if you have no license, and equipment such as donuts, wakeboards and skis can either be hired or purchased depending on your level of commitment.

3. Camping
If living and boating on the water isn’t for you, what about next to it? Camping is a brilliant budget holiday for the whole family. Great riverside locations exist throughout Australia, and give you an opportunity to get away from the game consoles and DVDs and spend real, quality time together.

4. Fishing
Fishing charters are a particularly great holiday for the lads. With tours up through rivers and estuaries running throughout Australia, Victoria is particularly good for quality fishing.

5. Take a cruise
Finally, if something a little more luxury is your style, try a tour boat ride up the Murrumbidgee River to take in the country side in style. Depending on your tour guide, these adventures can be overnight, or just an afternoon of fun in the sun and relaxation.

If inland waterways aren’t you’re thing and your still on the hunt for that perfect waterside summer holiday, why not take it to the next level? An ocean cruise is a fantastic way to get a foot in the door for future travel, experience unique cultures and soak up the sun. With many cruises fully equipped with shops, extravagant dining and a range of entertainment, this is truly the complete holiday package. While many of us might err on the side of cost caution, cruises come with a vast range of price tags, depending on the luxury level you choose for your accommodation. And while many meals are generally included, your alcohol consumption will also dictate costs.

Moving into a new home can be a busy time and it is easy to forget to get everything done that you need to. Once the removalists have brought in all your furniture and belongings you can then start to get yourself organised. One of the first things you will need to do is make sure that your home insurance has been changed to cover your new home.

Make a list

It can seem overwhelming when you first move into your new home. Surrounded by a pile of boxes in a bare room can be a bit disheartening, and it is not just the unpacking that you need to do. To make it a bit less stressful sit down and make a list of everything that needs to be done and systematically work your way through it. Rather than being overwhelmed take it one step at a time. As well as unpacking you will need to organise for the utilities to be connected as well as changing your address on your drivers license, with your bank and other companies where you are either a member or hold an account.

Unpacking

If you have hired removalists they should have put the right boxes of items in the correct rooms. If you are going to move yourself you will make it easier on yourself if you label all your boxes. When you carry the boxes in take them straight to the right room, preferably after you have moved any furniture in or put down any rugs. Take your time unpacking and do one room at a time. Think about where you are going to put everything first to save moving it multiple times.

Arrange your furniture

It is unlikely that your furniture will be laid out the same way in your new home as it was in your old place. When moving your furniture in take care not to hurt your back if you are doing the heavy lifting. To make it easier on yourself you should hire a professional removalist. Once your furniture is in place remember that it is not a permanent arrangement. Live with it for a while and see if it works for you in that configuration. You may find that the flow of traffic through the house would work better if the furniture was moved or you might need to get rid of some items. You may even find that you need to buy additional pieces.

Insurance

Before you move into your new home check that your house and contents insurance protects your belongings while you are moving. You may decide to stay with the same insurance company so you will need to change over your address details and give them the specifics about your new home. You may find that your insurance fees change due to differences in your new home, such as the size of the home and whether it has a security system.

Pest control and repairs

You might also want to have your new home checked for pests such as termites. It is also a good idea to inspect the property for any damage and even have the electrical wiring checked.

Cars, where would we be without them? Well, we’d probably be walking to work, ingesting considerably less C02 and the term ‘road rage’ wouldn’t have needed to be invented. The car, despite its large amounts of negatives, has completely revolutionised how we live our lives. Who’d have thought a 100-years ago that your average Joe would be driving a ten grand hatchback to work instead of looking at the rear end of a horse? Who’d of imagined we’d all be intoxicated by motorsport, Jenson’s looks and Lewis’ crashes. The car has changed our lives; that’s for sure, but what of the cars that are more than just metal. Which are the motors that are icons of our day?

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Let’s start with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Well, its name is truly awful. Seriously, think about it; imagine you have never heard of the aforementioned film and then someone tells you that a few people have named a film dubbed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – you’d tell them where to go! But after quite a few decades and lots of praise, Chitty has become an object that we’d place alongside the furniture and the cat. It’s part of the family.

If anyone were to hurt Chitty, you’d be furious. And it’s this love and admiration for a couple tonnes of metal and fluids that takes an average car to the next level of iconic status. Humans, as a generalisation, like habits. We like to come home to the same bed, the same pillow and the same smell. It may be mundane, but it’s those little aspects of each of our individual lives that make life just that little bit nicer. And it’s exactly the same with Chitty. The car has become part of modern culture – despite it being older than most modern day grandmas – and if it was to be stolen or, even worse, killed, there would be a worldwide day of mourning.

James Bond’s Underwater Lotus Espirit

Let’s move on and look at something a little bit newer. How could James Bond’s Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me not make the list? In one smooth move, the Esprit took every single teenage and pre-pubescent boy’s inspiration and gave it a good shake. It spawned school-ground talk, made young men believe underwater driving was possible and let a new generation discover just how good the Bond films were.

The news gets better, too, as the Esprit featured in the film was painted in a marble white, and as we all know, this colour didn’t last the distance with regards to perceived ‘coolness’, but since the turn of the 21st century, white is back! The legendary Esprit has never looked cooler, which not only adds to its already global appeal but manages to make it seem as modern today as it did 30 years ago. Everyone wants that Esprit – but only if it can actually go underwater.

Aston Martin DB5

Another bond motor now, but how to introduce it? How to truly encapsulate what this car did for the Brit invasion in the 1960s? Ok, here goes: ladies and gentleman, the Aston Martin DB5. How was that? Understated but respectful, agree? Pleasantries aside, the DB5 is probably the most iconic car ever made. It beats anything from any other manufacturer because of several reasons: 1. it was featured in two James Bond films in the 60’s, 2. it was released in the ‘60s when cars were cool and ladies were groovy, and 3. it was an Aston Martin’s finest work for decades. The DB5 just exuded cool. It took Aston Martin into a whole new era of ice cold GT cars made for tuxedo-wearing, cigar-smoking, womanising rich 30-somethings who knew what they wanted and how to get it. It was just the business!

The Ford GT40

And finally we come to the Ford GT40. This car is more than just a car because it helped Ford destroy Ferrari at Le Mans during the aforementioned decade. It was built purely to beat the Italians, because Enzo Ferrari pulled out on a Ford takeover deal, which left Henry Ford beyond furious and, more importantly, ready to kick some ass. It took a couple of years but the GT40 finally became reliable enough to not only compete with the Prancing Horse but annihilate them.

We fell in love twice with the GT40 when Ford released the 21st century version in 2003 dubbed the GT. This new car, with 550bhp and a top speed of over 210mph, managed to keep the old car’s majestic allure and presence, and with a price tag of just over 100k, it’s not surprising that the GT went down a storm.

The cars mentioned in this article are proof that, as a bunch of motoring fans, the world can create icons out of metalwork. What’s next for the classic treatment and our unrivalled future attention? A good bet would be the Bugatti Veyron, as it encapsulates everything that’s good about engineering in since the term of the century.

This article was written by our friends at Netcars.com – if you are looking for a car that is more than just a car, be sure to stop by as they have a huge range of used cars for sale throughout the UK.

With university fees spiralling forever upwards, many students are now unable to enjoy traditional gap year programs, preferring instead to stay at home and work for a year in order to help with their tuition fees.

However, specialist gap year companies are now helping students to see the world and earn some cash for universitywith programmes that help them to find work abroad. Typically, these organisations will charge a small fee in return for setting students up with paid work abroad that will not only help with their funding, but add useful skills and experiences to their CV.

So what kind of gap year jobs are available? Well, there’s actually quite a surprising variety out there, from fruit picking to sailing the Caribbean on a 100ft luxury yacht. Some are, understandably, more difficult to get into than others, but with a little preparation gap year students can find themselves a job that will make them the envy of all their peers once they arrive for their first year in halls.

Here are some of the better options:

Ski Chalet Host

Where?

There are ski resorts all over Europe, including France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria, as well as emerging destinations in Eastern Europe. If you want to go further afield, there’s always Canada, America or even Japan.

Pros:

Working days are usually divided into a morning and evening session, meaning you have a decent amount of time in the afternoon to see the sites or hit the slopes.

Get enough practice in, and you may improve your skiing enough to become an instructor the next time you’re looking for work.

The chalet rep scene is usually very sociable, and gives you a great chance to meet other reps, hosts and instructors, and the nights out are usually pretty messy.

Cons:

As above, the nights out are usually pretty messy, and you’ll have to get up pretty early the next day to cook breakfast.

The work is pretty tiring, especially after a day on the slopes or a night on the tiles. You’ll have to prepare food for groups as large as 30, and there’s plenty of cleaning to be done.

How Much?

Chalet hosts can expect to earn around £110 per week, but you won’t have to pay for things like accommodation or food, and you’ll get pretty big discounts on things like equipment hire and drinks.

White-Water Rafting Guide

Where?

Anywhere there’s fast moving water and tourists! But it’s best to concentrate on places with a strong emphasis on adventure sports like America, Australia and New Zealand, as there’ll be more opportunities.

Pros:

The wages are pretty damn good.

The work’s pretty damn exciting.

You’ll see some pretty damn beautiful scenery.

Cons:

The work can be pretty damn dangerous.

You’ll need to have your wits about you at all times, you definitely don’t want drowned tourists on your hands.

You’ll have to go through an extensive training course that can take around 5 weeks.

How Much?

You can expect to earn between £200 and £400 per week, depending on experience.

Deck-Hand on a Luxury Yacht

Where?

Across the 7 seas….

Pros:

Beautiful blue waters, tropical island paradises, amazing wildlife. What’s not to like?

You may just find yourself on a luxury yacht, serving canapés to movie stars…

You’ll see parts of the world you’d probably never reach any other way, and your route may change on the captain’s whim, taking you off somewhere completely unexpected.

Cons:

You’re at sea. There are sharks at sea…

Movie stars can be obnoxious, pompous bores. Especially to those serving them canapés.

Some positions require previous experience and some trips only last a couple of weeks before you’ll need to find something else.

How Much?

This depends hugely on your position. If you have some sort of skill (even bartending) you’ll earn more. Those with real sailing experience can earn up to £2,000 per month.

Adventure Tour Leader

Where?

There are loads of destinations that have the scope for adventure tours, from the gap year staples like Australia, Thailand and India to less travelled destinations like Morocco, Egypt and Costa Rica.

Pros:

You’ll get to experience some of the most exciting adventure holidays around, and gain experience in activities like rock climbing, canoeing and horse riding.

Some organisations will provide your food and accommodation, so you should be able to save a fair chunk of your wages.

Most companies are willing to take on candidates with no experience, and offer them training.

Cons:

You’ll almost certainly need first aid skills before you start taking people off white-water rafting or on other dangerous sports.

Having to organise a tour group can be frustrating and requires good organisation skills.

Some companies require you to be over 25, while some will only take on candidates with prior experience or qualifications.

How Much?

A junior tour leader can expect to earn around £160 per week, and some organisations will also provide food and accommodation.

Travel Writing

Where?

Anywhere with an internet connection. There are several blogging sites that share their ad revenue with bloggers based on how many page views their work gets, so make it interesting!

Pros:

You can do this anywhere in the world, as long as you can find an internet café or hostel to post your musings from.

It requires no prior experience, just some interesting stories to tell.

It’s always a buzz to see your work published (even online).

Who knows, you may just get noticed by a heavyweight publisher and become the next Paul Theroux.

Cons:

Unless you are Paul Theroux you’ll probably need to do a hell of a lot of writing to make any money from this.

Only the most interesting posts will get read and therefore make money, so the temptation to make up stories (that time you discovered the lost city of Atlantis, that time you wrestled a bear etc) is pretty strong.

You almost certainly won’t get noticed by a heavyweight publisher and become the next Paul Theroux.

How Much?

Again, this depends on how many people read your work. It could be pennies, it could be hundreds. Writers generally earn around 10p-20p per each page view, so it can take a while to build up serious revenue. However, overall views in the tens of thousands are not uncommon, so you never know…

As much fun as it can be to have visitors from out of town come and stay, it can put the pressure on a little as well. It can seem that as soon as guests arrive your brain empties of all the things you were planning to show them in the city, and you’re paralysed by indecision over whether or not they’ll enjoy your activities. It doesn’t have to be stressful—in fact with a little planning, a well-organised tour and a few simple steps on your part, you can make sure your guests have the best time of their lives, and that you enjoy yourself too! Whether you’re taking them out to nightclubs every night or they’re more brunch and bushwalk types, we’ve got some tips to help you remain the host with the most!

Plan a Little…But Not too Much!

There’s a fine line between a host who facilitates a great time and a host who controls the entire trip! While there are probably a thousand things you want to show your guests, you have to take into account the fact that a: they probably have their own ideas about what they want to see and do and b: it can get draining when you’re on holiday to be scheduled and ordered around every minute of the day! Plan a few activities (and a tour of the city is definitely a good idea) and then take into account what they want to do and try to work it in. They might be completely happy to let you take the reins for the whole time, but it’s best to work out a plan in discussion with your guests, rather than before they even arrive.

Give them Space

Anyone who has ever been on an extended trip away with friends knows that even the closest of friends or family can begin to drive each other crazy after a while! Make sure that you incorporate some time apart into the trip—for their sake, and for your own! Your friends will doubtless want to explore a little on their own, so make it clear that this is fine by you, and you’ll have much more fun during those times when you are together.

Go With The Flow

While the plan may have been to hit up a series of restaurants and bars after a long day of sight-seeing, if what you all really want to do is sit around and order pizza and chat, do that instead! Out-of-town visitors don’t come around all too often, so make the most of the time you have together to reminisce about old times and catch up on current situations. Your guests are here to see you as much as they are here to see the city, so remember that one of the best attractions you can show them—is YOU!

The work place regulations and laws in Australia have changed dramatically over the last ten-to-fifteen years, with different governments bringing about significant changes, and new regulatory programs upon election. While this may mean greater protections for the worker, it can also mean some level of confusion for the employer who is expected to keep up with the changes, implement and abide by them like any other law.

In January 2010, a new set of workplace regulations came into play as a result of the Fair Work Act — these are called The Modern Awards. The Modern Awards aimed to simplify awards, making them easier to understand, reduce the significant number of awards that were in existence, and that may apply to any one person. The awards replaced existing awards and worked in conjunction with the National Employment Standards (NES), supplementing new regulation and additional detail.

One of the big differences with the awards is they apply on a national level. The first regulation to take effect was a safety net for minimal employment standards. This occurred on 1 January 2010 and ensured employees have protected leave entitlements and will receive a guaranteed minimum wage. Other changes covered areas such as consultation, representation and flexibility.

The Modern Awards may impact your permanent, temporary and contractor management staff, so it is vital you know your responsibilities. Some areas you may be affected under the new awards:

1. Pay rates

The award aims to create a guaranteed minimum wage for employees in any industry. This may have changed the minimum wage you were paying staff under existing awards. Ensure your wages have been examined for any discrepancies with the new minimum wage so you are not in breach. Minimum wage also fluctuates, so keep an eye on ongoing changes.

2. Flexibility

One of the big areas of interest, is award changes to flexibility. Under the new regulations, an employer and employee may enter into an agreement to amend the award on an individual basis, so long as the employee ends up better off than if no agreement was made. These amendments can impact areas such as working hours, overtime rates, penalty rates, allowances and leave loading, giving rise to greater flexibility. If you do decide to do this with an employee, ensure you know all of you responsibilities in the process before commencing.

3. Change

If an employer intends to make major changes that will impact the role of an employee, for example leading to retrenchment, retraining or relocation, the employer must provide information as soon as practical.

4. Disputes

Resolution of disputes pertaining to the award must be attempted at several levels of management prior to being taken to the Fair Work Tribunal.

5. Termination and redundancy

The NES provides for termination, however the Modern Awards will generally regulate notice of termination.

6. Hours of work

The Modern Awards set out normal hours of work for an employee, and how these can be altered.

There are a number of changes under The Modern Awards that will impact your business, ensure you stay up-to-date with all employee regulatory areas, from OH&S through to contractor compliance and seek advice on any areas of uncertainty.

There have been many UK villains, gangsters and molls over the years. We still bump into them in fancy dress parties as they are often considered to be some of the most post popular costume ideas and party themes in Britain. Deranged criminals, sinister gangsters, ruthless bank robbers, psychopathic murderers, and dodgy underworld figures. Some are respected for their ingenuity some are despised for their brutality. One thing is certain, there are simply far too many of them. Imagine that you can pick three costumes every year of your lifetime and never manage to exhaust them.

Below we provide 5 of the most notorious UK criminals (or criminal duos) of the past century.

Freddie Foreman: A South Londoner born in 1932 with an ordinary family by common standards, but with a dad who opposed the authorities so much that he did not tolerate to even speak to them. His first conviction was at the age of 16 at the Old Bailey. A Grievous Bodily Harm charge, and there was no way back from there. He has been named the Godfather of British crime. In jail he learnt the ways of the prison as well as many crime tricks. Upon his release he began robbing vehicles –anything from cars, to vans, to armored trucks. He eventually formed a ‘firm’, members of which included other well-known gangsters, such as Tommy Wisbey and Bully Hart. The firm did well, making him one of the most ‘respected’ and well-reputed gangsters in London and resulting in his being called the Godfather of Britain.

Fred and Rosemary West: two of the most infamous killers of modern times. The British couple convicted for more than 12 sex crimes and are suspected for 20 more. They both came from dysfunctional families. Fred had an unhealthily close relationship with his mother while his dad was too strict, while also sexually abusing his daughters on a daily basis. Rose’s mother was a depressive and her dad violent, who also raped his daughters. Fred began to sexually abuse women himself before he met Rose. Rose just joined in the game; they lured young women into their house, tied them in the basement, raped, tortured them and buried them in their garden. Amongst their victims were Fred’s first wife, daughter and their own first-born child. They were both sentenced for 12 and 10 murders respectively but Fred was found dead in his cell having first admitted to 20 more murders.

Harold Shipman: Another murderer who was found dead in his cell was Harold Shipman, one of the biggest serial killers of all time. He was convicted for life for the death of more than 215 patients. Known as Dr. Death, he is suspected to have murdered 45 more. Shipman was a well-respected GP before his crimes were uncovered. Most of his victims were elderly people, out of which 171 were women and 44 were men between the ages of 41 and 93. A year after his conviction it was revealed that he was actually suspected for the death of 297 patients in a space of 20 years, making him the second biggest serial killer in history.

Ronnie & Reggie Kray: The twin brothers reputed as the bosses of London’s underworld in the 50s and 60s. Owners of the biggest London nightclub; this business wasn’t enough so they decided to expand into organised crime. They were involved in arson, assaults, torturing their opponents, as well as two murders. The gangsters were arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1969.

Mary Elizabeth Wilson: Also known as ‘Merry widow of Windy Nook’ she was convicted of poisoning and killing two of her husbands and considered to have killed two more! She poisoned her first husband after 43 years of marriage, killing her lover –the man who lodged with them- at the same time. In 1957, at 64, she married a retired estate agent, who she killed in less than a fortnight from their wedding day. Not long after she had also married a homeowner who had a fully paid up life insurance policy. He died almost straight away. The police became suspicious, with the doctors by now having crosschecked the causes of death. She was found guilty of 2 murders and sentenced to death but she died within four years at the age of 70.

Quite often companies don’t put enough effort into their communications. This is such a pity as markets perceive messages about companies and their products and services through many sources. Only one of these sources is advertising.

Markets make judgments, either consciously or subconsciously, about the function, aesthetics, price, packaging and distribution of products and services. And if this isn’t enough, they compare all of these attributes with those of similar products and services. Therefore, it is critical that companies keep this in mind when creating their marketing strategy. They need to ensure that their key messages are consistently read, heard and perceived by their markets. To do this, companies need to think about the various methods available to communicate with their markets and which ones will have maximum cut through.

The communication methods available to companies are advertising, personal selling, sales promotion, direct marketing and publicity. This might sound daunting for small businesses that do not have a dedicated marketing team, but it shouldn’t – marketing and communications activities should be ingrained in a company. Instead of being the responsibility of one individual Manager or team, marketing is joint effort that should be maintained by every employee. In achieving that this is a joint effort, all functional departments in a company should be included in the planning, development and implementation of marketing activities. Incorporating the marketing efforts with the business functions is called integrated marketing communications.

Marketing is something that often happens in isolation of the companies’ business so companies that use integrated marketing communications usually have a point of difference. Their messages seem to be ingrained in the companies’ culture, employees appear to be more in-tune with the companies’ goals and messages and their customer service is usually better. This is so important because consumers consider both tangible and intangible attributes of a product or service when they make judgments about its suitability – sometimes a positive experience and good customer service is the intangible attribute that gets companies over the line.

One of the common mistakes that companies make when creating their key messages for integrated marketing communications is over-promising. They get so wound up with promoting the positives of their products and services that all of a sudden they end up raising the expectations so much that all they can expect from their customers is disappointment. The golden rule every company should stick by is, if you can’t deliver it, don’t promise it!

A successful integrated marketing communications program requires you to create stronger bonds between your departments. Marketing should be working with all of the teams within the business including finance, accounting, human resources, research and development. If you don’t know where to start in introducing this marketing strategy into your company, you might consider employing a professional. A good place to search for a suitable marketing company is online. Just search for what you are after along with your location, for instance, ‘marketing agency Sydney’ or ‘marketing Sydney’.

While a 21st birthday these days is not an official or legal coming of age, is still somewhat of a rite of passage for young people into adulthood. It is a milestone birthday and a celebration that is often not taken lightly. Not surprisingly, you want your ‘little girl’s’ big birthday bash to be not just something to remember, but a period of special nostalgia for her in years to come. It is likely the last milestone she will have with you before paving her own way and starting to really, truly stand on her own two feet.

Making this event amazing is not just a matter of the perfect gift, but a combination of factors. If you want to create a night to remember, make sure you tick these boxes to deliver an event continuously special from start to end:

1. Start with something old fashioned

Flowers are not something young women receive often in this day and age. While some may say this is due to the gradual dying out of romance, in fact, it is likely just that romance is evolving and presenting itself in new — and technological ways. Regardless, flowers – whether roses, lilies or other beautiful plants — say ‘you’re special’ and symbolise a bond. Start off your daughter’s event with a quiet father-daughter moment, sharing a brief congratulations and your wishes for her and for the evening, and giving her a subtle, yet meaningful single flower or bouquet.

2. The party

The party, at this age, is challenging. In order to be special, it needs to combine the fun of youth and the things she likes, with a level of sophistication. This partly comes down to the venue you select, how you decorate and the more formal part of the evening. Encourage her to be involved in the planning so she has everything she wants, within reason, and will remember all aspects of the night fondly.

3. The speech

While it is also a rite of passage to share the funny and slightly embarrassing stories of your daughter’s younger years, it is also important to offer some real sentiment. Be open and honest, share your pride unashamedly and take this one chance to convey your sincerest joys at being a parent. Video this part particularly, as it is something she will cherish forever.

4. Your gift

The perfect gift is something that will last forever and is personal. Jewellery is traditional for a reason. A diamond ring is lovely, but if you can, select something detailed and intricate, suited to your daughter’s taste, so she can see the effort you have put into selecting it.

5. The finishing touch

One last gift will make your daughter’s 21st birthday evening a vibrant and real memory. Tie the entire evening together by working with a craftsperson to press one of the flowers from your bouquet and combining this with a photo of your family.
