Don’t Be A victim To Fashion

Trends are fun for every woman to indulge in, but there is such a thing as going too far. First, you need to establish whether or not you are a fashion victim.

You need to look at your closet and your most recent purchases to figure this out. Pull out your five most recent purchases to evaluate them. If at least three of them are described as the “must haves” of the season, then you are in the danger zone. Now, rummage through your closet a little. If roughly one out of two pieces is dated or out of style according to the fashion sources you check, you are in even more danger of becoming a victim to fashion.

Finally, you need to look deep within yourself. Do you really like the fad clothing you are buying, the over-sized bag and fitted white pants, or are you using them as a crutch. If you answer that you really like them, then you are a fashion victim because you are lying to yourself. Acknowledge that fact. If you admit to using them as a crutch, great. These next steps will be much easier for you to follow.

Before you make your next purchase of a red sweater vest, consider if you would still like the item if it did not have the designer label. If you love it, you should buy it. If you don’t, you should love the fact that you are beginning to develop your own sense of style, and don’t buy it. In that same vein, don’t call things by their designer name. Call a shirt a shirt; don’t call it your Vera Wang shirt. And don’t wear two trends or more together at the same time. Develop more classic pieces.

There are a few more final thoughts to consider. Cheer up. I’m not saying that because I think you’re depressed. It’s just that many of the girls we see in magazines aren’t smiling. Don’t copy that look. A smile and cheery demeanor will never go out of style and are the most attractive things you can wear.
